Frequently Asked Questions

Common logistics, delivery, and self-hauling questions answered by our estimating team.

What is the minimum volume required for truck delivery?

Our standard delivery minimum is 15 tons (a full dump truck load) for Northwest Indiana hauling. For smaller volumes, please contact the Hebron plant direct line at 219-690-9002 to verify shipping schedule availability.

Can I self-haul material with a personal pickup truck?

Yes. Commercial haulers and personal vehicles (pickups/trailers) are welcome to self-load at the Hebron plant. The facility is equipped with automated scales and loaders to get you loaded and weighed out quickly.

Are your limestone and sand aggregates INDOT certified?

Absolutely. South Lake Stone is a certified aggregate producer under Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. We supply materials that meet strict INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) specifications for public works, highways, and structural concrete.

How do I calculate how much tonnage I need for a driveway or parking lot?

You can use our interactive Material Estimator right above this section! Simply select your material, input the length, width, and depth of your subbase, and click "Apply to Quote Form" to request a detailed bid.

What are your operational hours and loading times?

Our Hebron plant operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturdays (seasonally / weather permitting) from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Automated scale lines close 15 minutes prior to gate closing times. Please call ahead to confirm holiday schedules or extended paving season hours.

Do you accept credit card payments for self-hauling and deliveries?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) for both self-hauled pickup orders and scheduled site deliveries. Commercial accounts can also be established through Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. for ongoing project credit lines.

What is the difference between dense-graded aggregates like #53 stone and open-graded stones?

Dense-graded aggregates (such as #53 stone) contain a blend of crushed stone sizes mixed with stone fines/dust, allowing them to compact into a solid, impermeable subbase ideal for driveways and roads. Open-graded aggregates (like #73 or clean stone) contain only washed stone and no fines, leaving gaps for water to flow through, which makes them perfect for drainage, backfill, and erosion control.

Can your crew install the asphalt or do you only supply materials?

South Lake Stone is a primary material production facility. Through Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc., we offer full-service commercial, industrial, and municipal asphalt paving and site preparation. For residential projects, we supply the aggregates and asphalt to your chosen contractor, and can recommend local certified specialists upon request.
